What to Expect on the Deschutes River

(May to September)

Our river trip meets at 10:00 at Sandy Beach on the Deschutes River located in north central Oregon in rolling sage brush hill country.  See map. We recommend wearing bathing suits and tennis shoes or sandals on the river.  When everyone is ready, we provide free shuttle service to Harpham Flats, the put-in.  There, the head guide will give a talk and we load into our Sotar Rafts.  The trip includes several class 3 to 4 rapids and a lot of fun in the sun cruising in between.  Your trip can also include a catered hot BBQ Chicken or deli-style lunch that is served riverside.

This whitewater experience is competitively priced at $60.00 to $80.00 per person and lasts about 4 to 5 hours usually exiting the river about 3:00 to 4:00. We suggest you bring water guns and small buckets for defending yourself against invaders on the Deschutes River.  There can be a lot of water fighting! Other meeting times and trip options are available upon request.

We also have an overnight camping / rafting tour on the Deschutes consisting of two to three days. It puts in farther up stream from the day float and includes four to six meals.  This outdoor river trip meets in Maupin, Oregon in front of the Oasis Restaurant where secure parking is available. (Maps are available).  This camping plus whitewater adventure is priced at $220.00 per person for the two days and $330.00 per person for the three day.  A minimum of five to six paddlers are required for an overnight trip.
